Dragonfly Counselling & Support Centre (DCSC) is a charitable organization incorporated under the Alberta Societies Act, and under the direction of a community-based Board of Directors. DCSC is a proud member of the Association of Alberta Sexual Assault Service (www.aasas.ca).
Since 2014, DCSC has been the primary sexual violence service provider for the North East Region of Alberta devoted to addressing the widespread issues related to sexual violence.
DCSC provides specialized and individualized services to address the needs of people impacted directly or indirectly by sexual violence. DCSC offers a continuum of support services including crisis intervention, counselling, police/court/medical support. All counselling and support services are free of charge and available to survivors (historical or recent) and support persons; individuals and families (3+ years of age).
Additionally, DCSC provides sexual violence-related education for the general public and education and training for professionals prone to disclosures.
DCSC operates with an outreach model, with one main office in Bonnyville and three (3) satellite offices throughout the region in Cold Lake, Lac La Biche and St. Paul. The counselling and support teams travel across the Region to meet with clients by appointment. For those who experience transportation barriers, DCSC brings services to clients’ home communities.

Cheryl Bujold is currently the Executive Director for the Dragonfly Counselling & Support Centre, serving the North East region of Alberta. She joined the agency in its early stages of development which has now led to the Centre and continuum of services it offers today. After obtaining her degree in General Studies, Cheryl has spent the past 17 years working with children, youth and adults providing direct client service and creating social programming addressing sexual violence.
Cheryl and the Dragonfly Centre have been recognized at the 2018 Lakeland Business of the Year Awards as “Most Outstanding Non-Profit”. She presents at the local and regional level on many issues related to sexual violence.
Clinical Supervisor – Counselling Program
Mikaela Moulton is our Clinical Supervisor. Her role involves managing and providing supervision to our counselling team and maintaining a small caseload of individual clients in Bonnyville. She holds a degree in Child and Youth Care and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. Mikaela is a registered practitioner through the Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association.
Mikaela works with both children and adults who have experienced trauma. Her specialty areas include anxiety, PTSD, and grief and loss. Mikaela is trained in TF-CBT for child abuse victims, grief and loss, terminal illness, Narrative Therapy, and specialized counselling for survivors of sexual abuse and/or assault. Mikaela is also a trained
Mikaela is passionate about helping survivors overcome the psychological and emotional effects of sexual violence while navigating through the current societal barriers and challenges surrounding this area. She believes that positive change from traumatic events is possible if a person is given the opportunity to validate, reflect, and find meaning through their experiences. Mikaela strives to provide a safe, caring, and non-judgmental environment for her clients, while emphasizing the courage it takes to seek counselling and trust a practitioner to support them through this healing process.
Systems Navigator – Client Crisis, Support and Advocacy Programs
Mikaela Norton is our Systems Navigator. She manages our client support team which includes Advocacy, Body Education, Crisis Intervention, and Intake; as well as maintaining a counselling caseload. Mikaela’s undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, following which she completed a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology.
Mikaela is passionate about using a trauma-informed approach to create a safe and secure space where clients can process their emotions and experiences. She works with individuals across the lifespan who have experienced trauma. Mikaela has received specialized training in crisis, trauma, grief and loss for youth, and working with sexual assault survivors. Mikaela is a trained EMDR clinician, and is certified in TF-CBT for child abuse.
