Our Support/Counselling Team

The Dragonfly Centre also provides debriefing and support services for first responders who have responded/supported/cared for a survivor of sexual violence (including teachers, RCMP officers, social workers, EMTs and paramedics, or hospital staff). Visit our Resources page for more information and how to get immediate support.

Counselling

Dragonfly Centre understands that many survivors feel unsure, worried, or fearful about accessing counselling. It is our top priority to ensure that clients feel comfortable, informed, and in control of their own healing journey. Our agency takes a trauma informed approach in all aspects of our work in order to create an environment of respect and safety for our clients.

Counselling services are free and confidential for anyone who has been impacted directly or indirectly by sexual violence at any point in their life (recent or historical).

Client Advocacy

We understand that the legal and medical systems can be difficult to navigate. Processes such as disclosures, reporting, RCMP, court, and medical/hospital visits can be confusing and overwhelming. We provide consultations to individuals, schools or community organizations looking for support in responding to disclosures of sexual violence.

Step 1 – Connect With Us.
We welcome self-referrals for services, and third-party referrals from professional supports with the client’s informed consent. You can get in touch with us by calling 1-866-300-4325, emailing info@dragonflysac.ca, or using our online referral form

Step 2 – Intake
As part of our Intake process, we require that all new and returning clients complete a Needs Assessment over the phone. This is a pre-scheduled appointment where we create your client profile or update your information in our system and seek to understand your reason for accessing services so that we can match you with the most appropriate services to meet your needs.

Step 3 – Program Matching.
Following the Needs Assessment, you will be matched with the most suitable programs, services, or resources to meet your needs. Please note: At times, some programs do experience waitlists for service providers

How we manage our Wait List:

Our Program Wait Lists are reviewed regularly and assigned by location and client triage to ensure that everyone gets in to the best suited provider as soon as possible. When a spot becomes available, our Client Services Coordinator will be in touch. If your circumstances change or you find that you need some support right away, please don’t hesitate to reach out and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

You are not alone.

If you’ve experienced sexual violence either recently or past, it’s not too late. All of our counselling and support services are free and confidential.
